A rare example of Pakistan’s VCD-era bootleg culture, this poster for Long Woman is a forgery, fabricated to resemble a foreign action film. It features a ripped photo of a Western model (likely from a men’s magazine or DVD sleeve) surrounded by a fabricated cast list and crowd scenes cobbled together from unrelated sources. English text, made-up credits, and Urdu dubbing promises created a fantasy of global cinema, repackaged for corner shop display. These posters weren’t tied to real films; they were marketing artifacts for stitched-together porn clips aimed at working-class male audiences.

Exhibited in “Spasial Program” at SculptureCenter, New York, June 18 –July 28, 2025.
