Khajistan screens Showgirls of Pakistan at UNDO, the UnionDocs headquarters in Ridgewood, as part of Queer History Month. The evening is a fundraiser for DecrimNY, presented with nooks & crannies, the screening series run by Huilin Chen with support from UnionDocs.

The screening is introduced by the Khajistan team and followed by a short Q&A. Books and merch tables from Khajistan and DecrimNY will be set up in the space.

The film

Showgirls of Pakistan follows three mujra dancers in Lahore as they work the stage and negotiate everything around it: family, money, faith, and the men who run the theaters. It is an intimate portrait of an art form that polite society pretends not to see.
