A monthly illustrated political and social magazine containing articles on politics, education, science, arts, tourism, and athletics intended to show the accomplishments and continued progress of the Soviet Union. Published in Moscow, it was printed in 20 different languages. Founded by Maxim Gorky in 1930 under the title "USSR in Construction," which was changed in 1950.
