This booklet was produced by the Office of War Information during World War II to introduce American readers to competing visions of the post-war order. It gathers statements by Madame Chiang Kai-shek, Walter Nash, Harold E. Stassen, Raymond Gram Swing, Eric A. Johnston, George W. Norris, and Wendell L. Willkie on the United Nations, collective security, reconstruction, colonial futures, and the future role of the United States.
Published before the formal creation of the United Nations, the booklet uses “United Nations” in its wartime sense, referring to the Allied coalition while also pointing toward a future international organization. The back cover identifies it as “a publication about the war” and asks readers to pass it on “to a neighbor or a friend for further circulation.”
A concise OWI public-information booklet documenting how American wartime print culture framed peace, democracy, empire, and global governance before the end of World War II.
