    Translation:

In the present day, international relations

grow more intimate day by day,

and exchanges among the peoples of various nations become increasingly frequent.

However, conflicts of interest between nations still do not cease,

and the calamity of war continually arises.

In such an age, with what state of mind should we

    conduct ourselves?

If we are overthrown by the tide of the times and carried along by it,

we will ultimately come to lose ourselves.

Rather, we must establish firm conviction,

remain calm, and avoid being swept away by passing conditions.

    Imagery:
The front shows a Japanese figure carrying a traditional structure on his back while standing on a cliff edge, pulling another figure upward with a rope. The composition suggests strain, responsibility, and precarious survival. The reverse consists of vertically arranged Japanese text within a patterned border.

    Objective:
To reinforce themes of endurance, sacrifice, and national defense, encouraging the population to support Japan’s war effort despite hardship.
