Historical context
Dar al-Maarif launched Sindbad in 1952 for Arabic-reading children across the Arab world and abroad. Editor Muhammad Said al-Aryan presented it as education beyond the classroom, and Hussein Bicar’s illustrations influenced a generation of book illustrators.
Also held in the Reading Room: digitised issues of Sindbad.
