Published in Krokodil around 1981, the cartoon satirizes Pakistan’s role in arming militants toward India, Afghanistan, and Iran. It depicts Pakistan as a militant hive, with armed wasps labeled “India,” “Afghanistan,” and “Iran” swarming outward. An incisive Cold War satire of US-backed alliances surrounding the USSR’s southern flank.
