An original anti-communist jihad poster issued in Peshawar between 1981 and 1985 by Professor Sayyed Mahmood’s Internal Islamic Fronts of Afghanistan. Recasting Babrak Karmal as a horned communist beast pierced by a sword, it turns the Soviet-backed Kabul regime into a satanic enemy within the wider U.S., Saudi, and Pakistani-backed propaganda apparatus of the anti-Soviet jihad.

Provenance: Acquired from the family of a former diplomat stationed in Afghanistan during the Soviet–Afghan War (1979–1989).

Exhibited in Khajistan: Office of War Information (O.W.I.) at Pioneer Works, New York, May 08 – Aug 09, 2026.
