Original double-sided U.S. and Coalition psychological operations leaflet produced during Operation Desert Storm. One side shows Saddam Hussein isolated on a tank as missiles and bombs close in from all directions. The other side presents the Joint Forces seal surrounded by Coalition flags, framing surrender as entry into the protection of the Multi-National Forces.

    Leaflet Number: E01
    Operation: Operation Desert Storm
    Conflict / War: Gulf War
    Year: 1991
Country / Theater: Iraq and Kuwait Theater
    Language(s): Arabic
Format: Original printed leaflet, double-sided, color and black-and-white

Provenance: Airdropped leaflet acquired from the family of a U.S. military commander.

    Translation:
“Brother Iraqi soldiers, our great tragedy is to want you to come back to Iraq dead or crippled.”

Imagery: One side depicts Saddam Hussein alone on a tank, surrounded by descending bombs and missiles, suggesting that continued loyalty to Saddam leads to destruction. The opposite side shows the Joint Forces seal surrounded by the flags of Coalition nations, including Arab, Western, and allied states, presenting the Coalition as broad, organized, and protective.

Objective: To encourage Iraqi soldiers to surrender by contrasting Saddam’s destructive leadership with the safety and authority of the Coalition forces.

Condition: Fair condition. Original field-worn example with heavy creasing, staining, abrasions, edge wear, small holes, surface losses, and tears along the margins. Printed imagery and flags remain substantially visible, with wear consistent with airdropped battlefield distribution and age.
