Karachi, After Midnight: VOLUME 1, PART II compiles Shams’s entries from September to October 2003.
Storm Season is where his diary starts to hold two realities at once: public breakdown and private longing, the city outside and the computer screen inside.
Shams writes about coming home after college and failing at family life, the weight of expectations, and fights with his mother that leave him feeling like a liability.
Karachi also erupts. He describes days when the city descends into chaos, smoke, burning vehicles, police and paramilitary presence, and the panic of trying to get his sisters home safely.
