Translation:
“Under the patronage of His Excellency the President, the Struggling Leader Saddam Hussein, may God preserve and protect him, the Leader’s Loyalty Project opens to bring fresh water to the people of Basra.”
Bottom imprint: “Iraqi Media Center, Amman, 2002.”
Imagery: The handbill shows a large black-and-white portrait of an Arab Gulf figure above a waterfront or riverfront scene, enclosed within an ornamental border. The central text emphasizes Saddam Hussein’s patronage and names the water project as “Wafāʾ al-Qāʾid,” or “The Leader’s Loyalty.” The reverse is blank.
Objective: To promote Saddam Hussein’s rule through public-infrastructure propaganda, presenting the delivery of fresh water to Basra as a personal act of leadership, care, and national beneficence.
Condition: Good condition. Complete and legible, with visible fold lines, light creasing, and minor handling wear. The printed side remains clear, and the blank reverse is intact.
