    Original double-sided U.S. psychological operations leaflet produced during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. Printed in Arabic, the leaflet warns civilians not to repair Iraqi military fiber-optic communication lines and frames those cables as tools of Saddam Hussein’s regime.

    Provenance:  Surplus copy retained outside field distribution. Acquired from the personal materials of an unnamed U.S. military servicemember. Never airdropped or field-distributed.

    Translation:
    Front: “America: Iraqi military fiber-optic cables.”
    Back: “For your safety, stop repairing the military fiber-optic cables. You are risking your lives. These cables are a tool used by Saddam and his regime to suppress the Iraqi people, and these cables are targeted for destruction.”

    Objective:
    To discourage Iraqi civilians or technicians from repairing military fiber-optic communication lines, warning that the cables were targeted and associating them with Saddam Hussein’s regime.

    Imagery:
    The front shows coalition aircraft striking a buried or exposed communication line, with flames and smoke rising from the impact area. A magnified inset identifies the military fiber-optic cable. The reverse presents a warning inside a bordered notice box.
