Bali Jatti (The Daring Jatti, 2000, Punjabi) – Framed Art
Only one available.
Title: Bali Jatti (بالی جٹی, "The Daring Jatti")
Country: Pakistan
Year: 2000
Frame: Matte black painted wood with UV-resistant glass front
Condition: Vintage
Publisher: Uncredited
Framed print of rare surviving poster for the 2000 Punjabi action film Bali Jatti, starring Saima as a gun-wielding vigilante heroine and Shaan as her male counterpart. The collage-style design leans heavily into the post-Zia era aesthetic of militant rural justice, glamourized violence, and female empowerment reimagined through hypermasculine tropes. Bali, dressed in soft pink but strapped with an automatic rifle, walks the line between femme and fighter. Printed for use across cinema halls and VCD rental shops in Punjab, this street-salvaged now a part of Khajistan Toshakhana (Special Collections) is a testament to the populist power of Pakistani pulp cinema at the turn of the millennium.
Exhibited in “Spasial Program” at SculptureCenter, New York, June 18 –July 28, 2025.
Availability: Free pickup on July 29, or worldwide shipping (price excludes shipping).
