Monthly Rubby Lahore’s first issue (November 1972) shows a black-and-white photo of a woman in a satin slip on a charpai, looking straight at the camera. This underground Pakistani magazine mixed softcore images, voyeurism, and postcolonial style to blur fiction and reality and evoke city life.

Exhibited in “Spasial Program” at SculptureCenter, New York, June 18 –July 28, 2025.
