Original Pakistani Urdu poster for Suhagan Aik Raat Ki (سہاگن ایک رات کی, A One-Night Bride), a fake “film” poster likely created during the Musharraf era and circulating into the early 2010s. It features the faces of Lollywood actresses Khushboo, Nargis, and Meera pasted onto anonymous bodies, alongside taglines like “3 Hot Girls – Ready for Blast.” Designed in the cut-and-paste softcore VCD aesthetic, it was never meant to promote a real film. Instead, posters like this were used to lure working-class men into Lahore’s run-down tupped cinemas, particularly in Lakshmi Chowk, Royal Park, Misri Shah, and Bhati Gate, where foreign porn was spliced with low-budget local footage under increasingly lax censorship. No such film ever existed. This poster survives as a vivid artifact of Pakistan’s underground erotic cinema economy and the collapsing theatrical circuit that sustained it.
Exhibited in “Spasial Program” at SculptureCenter, New York, June 18 –July 28, 2025.
Availability: Free pickup on July 29, or worldwide shipping (price excludes shipping).
